Exploring Citizens Perspectives of Energy Pathways in the 21st Century on the Navajo Nation
Our goal of this project is to explore and understand what tribal citizens prioritize and envision for the Navajo Nation’s energy future. From tribal citizen engagement, we aim to co-create future energy scenarios that can be analyzed and assessed in modeling applications.
What are focus group discussions?
Focus groups are moderated discussions with six to ten other participants. In these groups, participants will be asked questions about their energy related experiences and priorities. Discussions are voluntary and will last a maximum of 2 hours. We will compensate participants $50 and provide meals for these discussions.
Who can participate in focus groups?
The focus group discussions are open to all tribal citizens, 18 years or older, that reside on the reservation. Both Navajo and non-Navajo speakers can participate in the focus groups.
When will focus groups take place?
We will conduct 10 focus groups across the Navajo reservation, two in each agency. We will host weekends and weekday sessions during lunch and dinner. Focus groups will occur in August and September of 2026.
